About Russell

I'm Russell Simpson, and I personally design each custom project, and do most of the fabrication in my studio.

I have a Master's Degree in Architecture from the University of Arizona.  I also have a Bachelor's Degree in East Asian Area & Language Studies, from Rutgers University.

I have been Making things my whole life.  Before Architecture school, I specialized in Origami, Tectonic assembly, Weaving, Braiding, and Subtractive sculpting.  Then I learned how to professionally design projects for Clients & budgets, and built my own business to create wonderful things for others.

Russell's Art & Design LLC, or RADLLC, begun in Tucson, AZ.  We created many successful projects, including custom science sculpture, but also pet furniture, and household furniture.  

I relocated to Bend in 2019 and continued creating projects, focusing on ethically Good and beneficial work. 

Half of the business is focused on Reusing waste materials to create a circular economy.  But the other half remains focused on creating exciting and communicative projects for clients.

I have hobbies and strong interests in Astronomy, Physics, & Technology.  I understand science, math, and engineering quite well and appreciate technical innovations and interesting details.

I use high tech tools like 3d modeling, CNC, laser cutting, 3d printing, Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence.  These dovetail with my skilled Hands and Eyes, knowledge of traditional craftsmanship, and decades of experience to assemble and finish projects with a high level of detail and beauty.
